      Application

      Hotel surfaces

Repeat quantities, maintenance and phased procurement.

Hotels use the same stone many times: identical vanity tops in every room, the same floor across several levels, matching steps and thresholds. The challenge is consistency and timing as much as material choice. We supply granite tiles, steps and slabs, Dark Emperador marble and porcelain slabs for contractors and procurement teams.

This page covers repeat quantities, how housekeeping will treat the stone, and procurement in phases. Send your schedule or BOQ through our trade BOQ page. Availability, lot sizes and price are confirmed per quotation, and any brand-standard or test requirement must be stated up front because we hold no test documents.

      What to consider

      Repeat quantities

A hundred identical vanity tops, or several thousand square metres of the same floor, will come from many blocks. Decide early what range of shade is acceptable, ideally by approving reference pieces that show the lightest and darkest acceptable, and check against them on delivery.

      Housekeeping

Housekeeping teams clean fast with standard chemicals. Acidic bathroom cleaners and limescale removers etch marble and wear sealers. Choose stone that tolerates the hotel’s actual routine, or change the routine and train staff before opening.

      Phased procurement

Hotels are often fitted out floor by floor. If phases are months apart, a later order may come from a different lot. Ask whether material can be held for later phases, and on what terms, or order the full quantity at once.

      Approvals and mock-ups

Operators and consultants often approve a mock-up room before the full order. Allow time for that in the programme, and keep the approved pieces as the reference for the rest of the supply.

      Attic stock

Spare tiles and a few spare vanity tops from the same lot make future repairs far easier. Many operators ask for this in the specification; include it in the quantity.

Limitations and when to get technical advice

Hotel brand standards often require test reports, slip classifications or certificates. We hold none of these for the products on this site, so where they are mandatory, the requirement must be checked before a material is specified. Pool decks, spa wet areas and external terraces involve slip safety for your designer with test evidence. Dark Emperador marble in guest bathrooms and busy public floors needs a maintenance plan that accepts etching and periodic re-polishing. We cannot promise to reserve stock without written confirmation. Fabrication is not a standard service. Black Marquina’s family is unconfirmed. Route specification questions to technical review.

      Finish

Finishes are not documented in our catalogue and are confirmed in your quotation. For hotels the key point is to keep the same finish across all phases and to choose it with housekeeping in mind: polished surfaces are quick to wipe but show water spots and scratches; honed surfaces hide marks but need sealing checks. Public-area floors near entrances and pools need finishes chosen against the designer’s slip requirement. See our finishes guide.

      Thickness

Tiles are mostly 20 mm (some 60 × 30 cm in 30 mm), slabs 20 mm or 30 mm, steps 30 mm and porcelain slabs 15 mm. On a hotel project, fix one thickness per element in the specification (for example all vanity tops at one thickness) so phases match. The right thickness for each element is confirmed by the consultant, fabricator or installer.

      What to measure

A room-type schedule is the most useful thing to send: each room type, how many rooms, and the stone elements in each, with sizes in metres. Add public areas separately. A BOQ or drawings can be attached to the quote form.

      • Room type and number of rooms
      • Floor area per room type (m²)
      • Vanity tops per room type (count and size in m)
      • Public-area floors (m²)
      • Steps, skirting and thresholds (pieces or lm)
      • Phase sequence or required dates

State floors and walls in square metres (m²), vanity tops and steps as pieces, and skirting in linear metres, each grouped by room type and phase. Include attic stock as a separate line so it is not forgotten. A BOQ in Excel or PDF is ideal; see our BOQ guidance and the quote checklist.

      What we supply

We supply material. Fabrication of vanity tops, installation and site protection are by your contractors. If you need items cut to size, list them and we will confirm whether it can be arranged before quoting. We do not provide installation, maintenance contracts or brand-standard sign-off.

      Site conditions to tell us

      • Whether the hotel is new-build or operating during refurbishment.
      • Delivery access, loading bays, lift sizes and permitted hours.
      • Storage space per floor and floor loading limits for stacked crates.
      • Phase dates and the order in which floors are finished.
      • Mock-up room timing and who approves it.
      • Housekeeping chemicals already in use, for an operating hotel.

      Natural variation

Across a large hotel order, natural variation is certain. Control it by approving a range, ordering from one lot where possible, distributing tiles from several crates on each floor, and allocating vanity tops so neighbouring rooms are similar. Porcelain repeats its design, which helps consistency across phases. See natural variation.

      Technical documents

If your designer, consultant or client needs technical documents such as test reports, data sheets or certificates, list them in your request and we will tell you what can be provided for the materials you choose.

      What affects the cost

      • Total quantity per element and whether it comes from one lot.
      • Material, format and grade (meanings of Standard, Premium and Extra confirmed with your quotation).
      • Thickness per element.
      • Attic stock and spare pieces.
      • Phasing: one delivery or many, and any holding of material.
      • Cutting of vanity tops and steps by your fabricator.
      • Delivery restrictions and site handling.

      Delivery preparation

Hotel deliveries work best when phased by floor and labelled by room type, so crates go straight to the right level. Agree the drop sequence, offloading equipment, and who checks crates against the approved range on arrival. Delivery terms are confirmed per quotation; see delivery preparation and delivery.

      Samples and viewing

Ask whether samples or a yard visit is possible for your shortlist. For hotel approvals, discuss early whether reference pieces for a mock-up room can be supplied, and in what sizes.

      Care

Give housekeeping a written care sheet before opening: pH-neutral cleaners, no limescale removers or bleach on stone, soft pads, wipe vanity tops dry, and report chips early. Plan periodic deep cleaning and, for polished marble, professional re-polishing of busy areas. See the granite care guide.

      Alternatives

Where consistency across hundreds of rooms matters more than natural character, porcelain slabs (80 × 240 cm, 15 mm) give a repeatable marble look. Granite generally tolerates hotel housekeeping better than marble; see granite vs marble. Some projects mix materials: granite on heavy-use public floors, marble or porcelain on feature walls and vanities.

      Questions

Can you hold stock for later phases?

Ask in your request. Whether material can be held, and on what terms, is confirmed in writing with the quotation; do not assume it.

How do we keep 200 vanity tops consistent?

Approve a shade range, order from one lot where possible, and allocate tops so neighbouring rooms match. Porcelain is the most consistent option if variation is unacceptable.

Can you meet our brand standard?

Send the standard. We hold no test documents, so if it requires them, we will tell you honestly whether they can be obtained before you specify.

      Can we send a BOQ?

Yes. Attach it to the quote form or see BOQ guidance.
